Creating a new generation of higher-skilled workers is both a means and an end for China’s ambitious development plan. With wages rising for low-skilled factory jobs, Chinese leaders say they need to expand the base of higher-paying jobs and create the highly trained work force needed to fill those jobs.

Part of the purpose of this nonfiction book is to reassure eyewitnesses that they are not insane for observing a flying creature that resembles a pterosaur. The problem is not with the mental health of the eyewitnesses; it relates to cultural indoctrination into universal extinctions.

"If this book does nothing more than comfort the eyewitnesses of strange creatures, I would be grateful; but there’s much more. We need to understand why we believe what we believe. When I first began researching these eyewitness sightings, years ago, I mentioned a word to a kindergartner: “pterosaurs;” he said, “A comet.” Years later, while writing this book, I mentioned my work to a second-grader; she said, “Who will buy your book? Crazy people?” I think better of you. And I think, because of what she and many others have told me, that we must understand indoctri-nation, for it influences our beliefs; the extent of that influence discomforts me."

Resident of China Reports Living Pterosaur
The Australian psychologist Brian Hennessy, a long-time resident of China, has reported a 1971 encounter with an apparent “prehistoric” flying creature on the island of Bougainville in New Guinea.
